Exposure and focus on form - Unit 10

In this unit the book focused in the exposure and focus on form that learners should have in order to succeed in acquiring a language.Experts say that to learn a foreign language, particularly as adults, exposure to language is not enough. We also need to focus our attention on the form of the foreign language, i.e. notice how it is pronounced and written, and how its grammar and vocabulary are formed and used. They say that to learn language we also need to use language to interact.
In addition there are some tips that we as future teacher should take into consideration about learners. For instance, learners need to be involves in activities according to their level.
The exposure of the language must be inside and outside the classroom; inside by doing activities without any accompanying comprehension or language task and outside by doing readings e.graded readers or by searching for interesting things on the Internet that are the best ways for them to acquire the target language successfully.

  3. Gloria your reflection is excellent! There is one specific aspect I actually learnt from you, the part that you say that the exposure of a language can only happen outside in the family, friends environment but also in the classroom!! Now I realize that can happen too!!
