The role of error - Unit 11

This unit showed us that making mistake is not the worst thing since it plays an important role in learning language. A lot of time and effort is spent on training courses and beyond in encouraging teachers to consider whether immediate or later correction of student errors during oral work is appropriate. There are a variety of good methods and techniques suggested for correcting students' errors.

Before correcting learners we should know the different types of error. The first one is the error that is when a learner says things in a wrong way because he or she does not know about the topic. Also we have slips that are things that we say in wrong way because we are tired or when there is fossilization or interference of the mother tongue. We should understand that mistakes are an inseparable part of the learning process and is the best way for learners to improve and master any language.

Here you can find an interesting video about correcting learners.

  1. Good job! Your analysis shows that you have a clear idea about the role error in the language process. Since, it is important to bear in mind that making erros is something learners do in unconscious way but once learners realize about it, they will start changing it and they will imporve their speaking skill.

  3. You are right when you said that errors make an important role in the learning proccess because students learn from them. Your reflection is absolutely clear, so I could learn more from it

  4. I like your reflections about the role of errors in second language learners. I agree that errors are a way for students to improve their target language.

  5. Great job Glo, because be need to be aware of the harm be can do to our students if we are always correcting them witout tact. It would frustrate them and so they will be demotivated to develop their language or improve.
